Kilig, Courage, and Connection: Marynor Madamesila Talks ‘Side Show’
In a role that demands both emotional vulnerability and physical closeness, Marynor Madamesila brings her trademark heart and eccentricity to the role of Daisy Hilton, one-half of the famous conjoined twins in Side Show: The Musical.
Known for her captivating performances in unconventional, offbeat roles, Marynor thrives in the unique and unexpected. Her previous work spans genre-defying characters, and Side Show continues that trajectory — challenging her to explore themes of identity, sisterhood, and self-worth — all while tethered to another performer.
With a “spicy brain” and an open heart, Marynor finds meaning in the bond between the twins and reflects deeply on how the show mirrors her own journey. Whether she’s gushing about her scene partner or processing the emotional weight of Daisy’s story, one thing’s clear: this is a role she’s diving into with full commitment, joy, and plenty of kilig.
What was your first reaction when you found out you’d be playing a conjoined twin?
It’s such a privilege to be able to tell stories for a living and I believe I have been blessed with a number of “interesting” roles so far. When I say interesting, I mean nonconforming, non-human, eccentric roles. And it’s always been a crazy good ride. The story of the beautiful and talented conjoined twins, Daisy and Violet Hilton is extraordinary so I am most definitely filled with gratitude and lots and lots of excitement!
What's been the most rewarding (or surprising) part of playing Daisy?
First few rehearsals in and the learnings have been never-ending! My castmates are all so talented and generous and our director, Toff, is incredible! The role of Daisy is definitely a big challenge for me, but the process of creating her character and her world through collaboration and the fun exploration excites me so much. The rehearsal is surely a safe space so everyone is easily brave, free, and innovative. The process is truly inspiring and I look forward to building and sharing our own Side Show.
What part of your character’s story hits closest to home?
It’s Daisy’s journey of struggling with her identity and self worth and ultimately finding courage and love to move forward. As someone living with a spicy brain in this crazy, fast-paced life, it really resonates with me. Hihi.

What has Side Show taught you about sisterhood?
Romantic love can typically be whimsical and dramatic, yet colorful — but there’s something so much deeper about sisterhood. It’s a bond so strong, it triumphs over any kind of conflict. And even the little, mundane things everyday hold so much power; it can heal a broken heart. I think sisterhood is like having an instant soulmate. Daisy and Violet’s sisterhood is so heartwarming, it encourages me to foster my own relationship with my sister.
How has working so physically close to your “twin” changed the way you perform?
This is my first time to work with someone who’s attached to me for quite a while so it’s definitely a challenge. It might take time to be comfy in the beginning but I am thrilled to have accepted the challenge. Challenges call for creativity and creativity entails fun so I’m very excited to build, innovate, and create with my twin and castmates (and maybe laugh a little in the process too). 🙈
How do you and your twin scene partner take care of each other offstage?
We’ve just started with rehearsals but my onstage twin (Tanya Manalang), whom I call Twinny, has been nothing but sweet and supportive! The first time I met her, I felt the warmth, the instant connection, and the mutual “fun” vibe. I’m extra unserious when nervous and I felt that with her as well. I’m excited to get to know her even more and deepen our bond just like Daisy and Violet.
